Kioxia will increase its memory manufacturing capacity with two new production facilities

. The first of the new plants is the Yokkaichi Plant Fab7 to be built in Mie Prefecture, Japan. Construction of the production plant is scheduled to begin in the spring of next year and will be completed in two phases. The first phase is scheduled for completion by the spring of the year 2022, when production can begin at the plant as soon as possible. Fab7 will be built to be earthquake resistant and as environmentally friendly as possible. Kioxia has been cooperating with Western Digital for 20 years now and the companies expect the cooperation to continue in the new Fab7 as well.
Another of the new plants will be built at the Kitakami Plant plant complex in Iwate Preference. The new extension to the factory complex is known for the time being as K2, but its schedule is still partially open. For the expansion itself, an area of 136 000 square meters next to the existing production facility will be prepared. Preparations are scheduled to start in the spring 2021 and be completed a year later, after which construction of the plant itself can begin.
