Razer Leviathan V2 Review
Source: Tech Power Up added 27th Sep 2022 The Package »
Introduction
The Razer Leviathan V2 is a direct successor to the original Leviathan soundbar, launched in 2014. Back then, soundbars weren’t commonly used as PC speakers, so in that regard, the Leviathan broke new ground and showed us that good audio can be achieved without taking up a lot of desk real estate. Designed to sit below the monitor, the Leviathan was perfectly capable of fitting into just about any environment; if a monitor would fit on your table, so would the Leviathan. The only other thing you had to do was to find room for the accompanying subwoofer, but since subwoofers aren’t fussy about positioning, that wasn’t much of a challenge.
The Razer Leviathan V2 doesn’t have the luxury of being particularly innovative, as using a soundbar as a PC speaker is old news in 2022. Luckily, Razer didn’t rely on that. Instead, they reworked and significantly refined the design of the Leviathan V2, equipped it with several interesting features, and slapped on the mandatory RGB light strip. The Leviathan V2 features THX Spatial Audio, which is vital in more ways than one, as you’ll find out later in the review. The Bluetooth connectivity was upgraded to Bluetooth 5.2, and the optical and analog inputs are gone. The Leviathan V2 is limited to a single USB Type-C wired input, meaning it’s no longer a viable choice for TVs or gaming consoles, except the Nintendo Switch, which can be connected to the soundbar via Bluetooth. With that in mind, the Leviathan V2 is obviously designed as a PC speaker, and that’s precisely how we’ll approach it in this review.
