A total of 17 members of the European Union join forces to achieve a 2 nm technological node on the continent in the coming years.

The The world of technology is governed by the development of chips that implement the various products. Most of these chips are manufactured at TSMC, which has little to do with Europe except for ASML’s state-of-the-art machinery, based in the Netherlands. As we saw a few weeks ago, Europe wants to concentrate forces to develop a technological node that is at the level of TSMC , which are major words.

For it, 17 members of the European Union , among which is Spain, have signed an agreement by which they will allocate 145 billion Euros for its development and implementation.

Because ASML is European, they should not have any problems acquiring the necessary machinery, unlike China’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, SMIC.

The technology they want to reach is have a node as low as 2 nm . Let us remember that TSMC, for example, already has factories in full operation below 5 nm, and has already finished the construction of its 3 nm node that will come into operation in 2022. Also TSMC is preparing a 2nm tech node, possibly for 2024.
