3D printer: direct drive for Creality Ender 3
Source: Heise.de added 04th Jan 2021The different model variants of the 3D printer Creality Ender 3 have a Bowden drive for the filament feed. This means that the filament is pushed by the drive motor, which is located on the printer frame, through a long plastic tube to the movable print head. This works well with hard filaments, there are problems with elastic materials, as they can easily get jammed in the tube and thus prevent the filament feed.
Creality now offers a conversion kit for direct drive: The set consists of a print head (including fans and 0.4mm nozzle), filament drive motor and the carrier plate, on which both are stacked a few apart Centimeters. The long transport hose is therefore no longer necessary.

The assembly should be very easy, since only the printhead carriage on the x-axis has to be exchanged and the cable has to be switched from the old to the new stepper motor. A firmware change is not necessary.
The set is available at the price of 46 euros in the Creality shop. (hgb)
