The latest update to the 3DMark benchmark suite has added some interesting new features, the biggest of which is ‘estimated game performance’. Based on the Graphics Score of your system, 3DMark will give an estimation for in-game frame rates for a selection of titles at different settings and resolutions.
With new GPUs from AMD and Nvidia driving interest in benchmarks, 3DMark has seen users submit more than 1 million benchmark results over the last month. Some of those users have been asking how their benchmark scores translate into performance, which has resulted in a completely new layout for the results screen.
One of the additions that the new layout has implemented is a comparison graph. Now, users can compare their performance with other systems with the same components (CPU and GPU). The green line shows your score, the orange line shows the distribution of scores, and the dotted blue line is the average result.
The most interesting new feature that comes with the new layout is “estimated game performance”, which gives you an idea of how your system will handle certain games at 1080p and 1440p, both with ultra graphics settings. 3DMark’s comparison list currently includes performance estimates for Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Fortnite, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2. More games are expected to join the list over time.
If you want to check the new features, you can download the 3DMark Basic Edition for free or buy the 3DMark Advanced Edition for $4.49 (85% discount), which includes more benchmarks, HERE.
