3x 8-pin: PowerColor shows the Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil
Source: Hardware Luxx added 13th Dec 2020After ASUS was the first manufacturer to step out of cover with the TUF Radeon RX 6900 XT, PowerColor today launched the Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil presented. We have already seen a first custom model from ASRock, but have not yet gone into it in more detail.
The PowerColor Radeon RX 6900 XT Red As expected, Devil is based on the design of the Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devil, which we were able to look at in detail in a test. Design and cooling are almost completely identical. There is one difference, however, and this relates to the additional power supply. The Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil no longer only requires two 8-pin connectors, but requires three of these connectors.
The Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devil provides the appropriate space – both in the form of the contacts on the PCB and the necessary space between the cooler. Only two 8-pin connections can be seen in the product photos, but the technical data again lists the three connections.
PowerColor slightly increases the clock rate of the GPU. In the silent BIOS, it adheres to the reference specifications from AMD and clocks with 2. 015 MHz Game and 2. 250 MHz boost clock. In the OC-BIOS it should be 2. 105 or 2. 340 MHz. It is not known whether and in what form PowerColor increases the power limit or the total graphics power (TGP).
There will be another limited edition with keycaps made of metal, which is limited to 1. 000 piece. There will also be a standard version of the PowerColor Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil, which will be available for a longer period of time. From the 17. December the two variants should be available in stores. We can look forward to the prices that will arise for the custom models of the Radeon RX 6900 XT.
