5G
The year 2021 will be that of the final customs clearance of smartphones based on 5G technology , in light of the estimates developed by ABI research. Over the next 12 months, the spread of these devices will in fact be such as to lead to a continuous reduction in average prices
The sector’s objective is to reach a threshold of 200 dollars as the entry purchase price of the cheapest 5G smartphones available on the market for the end of the 2021. This is a cost level that makes this technology effectively accessible to the vast majority of consumers.
The retailers themselves will push down the prices of 5G terminals available on the market , thus trying to leverage more on the overall purchase volumes than on the margins of the single terminal sold. The general market demand, moreover, could still suffer in 2021 the effects of the global pandemic and the renewed interest on the part of consumers in products more sophisticated processing such as tablets and personal computers. The latter turn out to be preferable when the needs of work or study are the masters over those of entertainment and communication.
The evolution of the 5G market and the global economic scenario, in a year like 2021 during which the economies are all called to a recovery from the terrible results of 2020, could lead to some changes in the overall scenario of the smartphone market . In fact, it remains to be understood, starting from the first months of the year, what the commercial relations between China and the United States will be after the new administration took office in America. The last 2 years have been fraught with tension, with significant implications for various Chinese companies undermined in their ability to compete on the market in a way that was previously accessible.
