6 bays with SSD cache: Synology releases the DS1621 +

Synology has introduced the NAS DS 1621 +. According to the manufacturer, the DS 1621 + is by far the most powerful Plus model to date. In addition to an AMD Ryzen V 1500 B Quad-Core with 2.2 GHz, the new NAS also has 4 GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM (expandable up to 32 GB) and two M.2 2280 slots. The DS 1621 + also supports an optional 10 GbE network card. There are a total of six hard drive bays on the Synology NAS. These can be equipped with either a 3.5 SATA HDD or a 2.5 inch SSD. With a corresponding expansion unit, the slots can be expanded to a total of 16.

On the back, four network connections (1 GbE RJ – 45) and three USB 3.2 Gen1 interfaces can be used will. Hardware encryption (AES-NI) is also on board. Two 92 mm large case fans provide sufficient cooling.

In order to realize an additional external backup, Synology Hyper Backup enables a plannable backup of the data to another Synology NAS as well as to the cloud solution Synology C2 or to other public cloud providers. The DS 1621 + can also be used to back up data from other sources. Active Backup for Business enables central data backup from external sources such as PCs, VMs and accounts from Google G Suite and Microsoft 365. With Synology Drive, the DS 1621 + becomes a private cloud. Here you can share your own data in the LAN or across locations. Intelliversioning enables users to restore previous versions of files. Clients for mobile devices, desktop, web and other Synology NAS are also available.

It is also possible to use machine learning algorithms, face recognition and location data to automatically sort photos according to people, places and To group motifs. A corresponding app also enables photos and videos to be backed up from mobile devices.
