Acer presents its first Chromebook with AMD Ryzen

The new Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is also the first Chromebook from Acer based on the AMD Ryzen platform. As usual, the device will be available once in an end-user version and once in an enterprise version for business users with additional administrator and software functions.
Under the hood of the new Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is an AMD SoC of the Ryzen class based on the Zen architecture, which is also equipped with integrated Vega graphics and so even for more demanding projects such as video editing or coding suitable is. Depending on the configuration, Acer relies on the AMD Ryzen 7 3700 C or the Ryzen 5 3500 C, each with four CPU cores. There is also up to 16 GB DDR4 memory and a fast PCI-Express SSD with a storage capacity of up to 256 GB – that is also quite generous for a Chromebook. The Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is made of anodized, polished aluminum and has a stylish diamond pattern on the A cover and the Touchpad. Thanks to the certification according to the military standard MIL-STD 810 H, it should be particularly resistant. The new Acer Chromebook Spin 514 should be available from March in the two color variants Pure Silver and Steel Gray. The end customer version should cost from 479 euros, the enterprise version from 669 euros. The latter is also included in the new Device-as-a-Service offer and can therefore be used by companies in a kind of leasing contract.
