Technological progress never stops, and as a result we get more and more efficient devices. I am talking not only about computer components, but also other devices such as smartphones, cameras and sports cameras. I especially mention the latter, because they offer ever higher resolution and / or higher frames per second in video materials at ever lower prices. This, of course, is associated with the need to have more efficient and larger data carriers. Portable SSDs are not a solution for everyone. ADATA has therefore decided to expand its portfolio with new memory cards in the SD Express standard (SD 7.0). Thus, read speeds of up to 825 MB / s will be attainable.

New memory cards from ADATA in the SD Express standard are to be introduced in Poland by the second quarter 2021 of the year.

Standard SD Express has been known since the second half of the year 2018, when the SD Association published the specification of SD 7.0, but as usual before such technological innovations become achievable for an ordinary mortal a bit Simply put, it is about the inclusion of the PCIe interface and the NVMe protocol in SD memory cards. This clearly affects the performance, and the user gets ≥ 985 MB / s (full duplex), compared to 624 MB / s in UHS-III (full duplex). memory of ADATA company Taiwanese prom up to 825 MB / s for read and up to 410 MB / s for writing. The performance was confirmed by prototype tests in the CrystalDiskMark program.

To achieve the declared performance, apart from the discussed card, it also requires a reader that supports the SD 7.0 standard. However, owners of older devices have nothing to fear – the new cards offer UHS-I backward compatibility. This means that on older readers / devices they will run at speeds up to 104 MB / s. The new ADATA SD Express media are to be launched in Poland by the second quarter 2021 of the year. The suggested prices and available capacity have not been revealed. However, you can safely assume that, as with all novelties, it will not be cheap at the beginning.
