Unwanted hiss and noise canceling malfunction – free replacement for AirPods Pro
The recall campaign, “AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues”, affects a limited number of devices that were manufactured before October 2020. In detail, Apple claims to have identified a “small percentage” of AirPods Pro specimens that have audio problems such as crackles and hisses and problems with active noise cancellation .
According to the supporting document, unwanted sounds may also become louder and more frequent in noisy environments or during a phone call . Some users have complained about similar issues since the first firmware update for the headphones was released late last year.
Those who experience similar problems with their AirPods Pro can go in an Apple Store or authorized service center for the product to be inspected and, if compliant, replaced free of charge. Individual earphones or the entire set can be replaced, depending on the outcome of the inspection.
All necessary information can be found on the official Apple support page.
