Amazon is already offering its smart echo speakers in the fourth generation – and has significantly refreshed this generation. In a double test we try out both the new large Echo and the new Echo Dot with clock.
Amazon has been offering its own intelligent loudspeakers with the Echo family in Germany for around four years. This year they are already in the fourth generation – and have been significantly revised. The new Echo is supposed to combine the advantages of Echo and Echo Plus in one device. It presents itself in a new, spherical design and with a fabric cover. Amazon promises both better sound and better visibility, which should be achieved by an LED ring on the bottom.
The 4th generation Echo Dot is also spherical and with an LED ring, but much smaller. Alternatively, it is also available as an Echo Dot with a clock. In this variant, an LED display shows the time, among other things.
Echo and Echo Dot are optionally available in anthracite, white and blue-gray. The new echo costs 97, 47 Euro. For the new Echo Dot without display 48, 47 Euro . The Echo Dot with clock is available in white and blue-gray, the price for this is 68, 22 Euro.
Amazon provided us with an Echo in anthracite and an Echo Dot with a clock in white. The scope of delivery for the two speakers is very similar. Amazon includes a multilingual quick start guide, important information (including about safety and disposal) and a power supply unit. The white power supplies look identical, but differ in performance. The echo power supply is marked with 30 W, the Echo Dot power supply with 15 W specified.
