The creation of the two new sites will involve a further investment of over 230 million euros which will be added to the 5.8 billion euros already placed on the plate by Amazon in Italy in the last ten years.

The distribution center of Novara and the sorting center in Spilamberto (MO) will be operational from from next autumn . The distribution center located in Agognate, part of the municipality of Novara in Piedmont, will create 900 jobs within three years. The site will be equipped with Amazon Robotics technology that reduces travel times by bringing the shelves directly to the operators’ station.

The Spilamberto (MO) sorting center will be the second site for this type opened by Amazon in Emilia-Romagna after that of Castel San Giovanni, and the third nationally. The new warehouse will create over 200 new permanent jobs by 2023. Sorting center employees will sort and prepare parcels from distribution centers for dispatch to sorting depots before final delivery to customers.

Amazon is about to start the selection process at the two logistics centers for managerial, technical and support functions to which it will be possible to apply by accessing this address regarding Novara and here in the case of Spilamberto. The selection of warehouse operators will start in spring.

Employees will be hired at fifth level of the Contract national transport and logistics company with an entry salary of 1550 gross euro and various benefits that include discounts for employees on Amazon.it and supplemental accident insurance. Amazon will offer its employees additional opportunities such as the Career Choice program, which covers up to 95% of the cost of tuition and textbooks for those wishing to specialize in a specific field by attending professional courses for four years.

The two new centers will be sustainable structures that will integrate energy saving systems by reducing the environmental footprint . The energy produced thanks to photovoltaic panels placed on the roof of the warehouse will feed both centers, Spilamberto will be equipped with approximately 720 kW while Novara di 1000 kW. The buildings are managed by the BMS (Buliding Management System), a system that allows intelligent management of the use and maintenance of the building. Mobility will also have a sustainability footprint as the car parks will be equipped with charging stations for electric cars and the bicycle transport system will also be encouraged with the creation of new cycle paths to increase city routes.

To preserve the balance and biodiversity of the territory, Amazon will take care of creating green areas and tree-lined spaces designed in harmony with the whole . to Rio Secco, which involves the planting of native species.

In Novara, the green design, designed to integrate with the context, aims to redevelop the rural and wooded area with particular attention to the preservation of flora and fauna: 01 hectares dedicated to green with 1500 between shrubs and trees, the redevelopment of 9 hectares of the Agognate wood with 11000 new trees, together with the use of native species only, represent only a part of the initiatives to protect the local ecosystem.

In fact, the project envisages the requalification of a section of the banks of the Cavour canal, the renaturalization ne of its banks in order to guarantee the biodiversity of flora and fauna. Finally, plant barriers will be created between natural and urbanized areas to protect the fauna.
