Amazon today announced a new dashboard for smart home devices on the company’s own Fire tablets. Customers should be able to control corresponding devices such as smart lamps, cameras, thermostats, switches or plugs that are compatible with the Alexa voice assistant.

You can access the device dashboard with a tap on the new smart home button in the navigation bar. This is system-wide and therefore accessible at all times on the lock screen. The new software offers a good alternative in situations where voice control is not possible or where it simply seems more convenient to use your finger. Changes can also be made from running apps. The new device dashboard will be rolled out for compatible Fire tablets via a free software update.
