The current GPU shortage has been quite troublesome – it’s really hard to buy a GPU nowadays, especially if you’re trying to buy it at MSRP. However, AMD wants to change that in the coming months. 

According to AMD’s Q1 2021 earnings call transcript, AMD CEO, Lisa Su, stated that the company will be ramping up production to increase GPU sales: “We expect Radeon 6000 series GPU sales to grow significantly over the coming quarters as we ramp production.”

The CEO admits that the semiconductor industry is currently in a tight spot, but AMD has been in close conversations with its supply partners, allowing the company to know where it stands stock-wise throughout the rest of the year.

A GPU production cycle tends to take at least a few months, so a GPU entering production today would likely hit retail in the Summer, or later if any issues pop up.  Considering this, do not expect the GPU stock situation to immediately, but we may start to see some improvement on the AMD side in the second half of the year.

During the earnings call, it was also confirmed that RX 6000 series mobile GPUs should begin shipping later this quarter.
