AMD Radeon RX 6000 – specification and availability of graphics cards

Source: Pure PC added 20th Oct 2020

October is definitely the month of AMD. The official presentation of Ryzen processors 5000, which will go on sale on November 5, is behind us, and in just over a week there will be an official announcement of AMD Radeon RX graphics cards 6000, which are to compete on the market with GeForce RTX systems 3000. Will there be the same availability issues? The German service Igor’s LAB revealed when to expect new Red cards in stores, and also referred to the energy consumption of the Big NAVI system. If anyone counted that the new Radeons would provide lower power consumption than the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, it was wrong. Recent reports suggest that it will be similar to what NVIDIA offers in its cards.

Store premiere of non-reference Radeon RX graphics cards 6000 is expected to take place in mid-November at the earliest, with greater availability at the end of the month. We also learned that the top NAVI systems 21 will have energy consumption exceeding 300 W.

AMD Radeon RX 6000 – new information about graphics cards

A few days ago we wrote in PurePC that you should expect AMD Radeon RX 6000 high TGP (Total Graphics Power). However, it does not mean the same as in NVIDIA systems and the full NAVI power consumption is also to exceed 300 W. AMD uses then the term TBP (Total Board Power). Over 200 W will download the graphics core. According to the Igor’s LAB portal, the NAVI 21 XT can have a total power consumption of 320 In (reference model) and 355 In (non-reference models). TBP of the truncated NAVI 21 XL is to be approx. 290 W.

AMD NAVI 21 – we met Radeon RX 6900 XT

Source suggests Radeon RX 6000 are to be available with Samsung GDDR6 memory with effective clock speeds up to 16 Gb / s (16000 MHz). As a side note, we remind you that NAVI cards 21 are to offer 16 GB VRAM and weaker NAVI 22 will receive 12 GB VRAM. When should Big NAVI be expected in stores? As reported by Igor’s LAB, the first cards, such as Sapphire Nitro or ASUS ROG Strix, are to appear in relatively small editions at the earliest in mid-November. Remaining vendors are expected to start selling cards later next month, with higher availability. This information will be officially confirmed 28 on October. Then there will be a presentation of AMD dedicated to the Radeon RX cards 6000.
