AMD Ryzen 5000 maintain compatibility with AMD 500 and 400 chipsets

All AMD Ryzen processors 5000 released today, based on the Zen 3 architecture, use the AM4 socket already introduced in early Ryzen processors, and are compatible with current motherboards with chipsets of the series 470 from AMD , including AMD A 500, B 550 and X 570. The processors will work with any BIOS that has AGESA version 1.0.8.0, although full and optimized support requires a BIOS with AGESA 1.1.0.0 that motherboard manufacturers already have ready for their motherboards.
Also, the owners of chipsets of the previous series 400 (AMD B 450 and X 450) will also be able to update their processors to the new ones Ryzen 5000, although until January 2021 is not expected to release the first beta BIOS that support these new processors in the family 90 chipsets.
The chiplet-based design of the Ryzen 5000 allows to integrate Zen 3 c on the current platform
The chiplet design that AMD introduced in the Ryzen 3000 with Zen 2 has made it possible for the new generation of Ryzen 5000 has been able to integrate the Zen 3 architecture while maintaining compatibility with the AM4 socket and with the last two generations of chipsets.
The reason for this is, as we have explained more extensively in our editorial about Zen 3, that having a processor divided into 3 “chiplets”, the two chiplets where the cores and cache (CCDs) are located can be updated with the new architecture, while maintaining the chiplet in charge of communication with the rest of the system (cIOD) compatible with the current platform. In this way, the entire unified core and cache system that is introduced with Zen 3, does not require major changes in the entire platform
