One of the ways enthusiasts optimize the performance of their equipment It is through the undervolt, a practice that consists in reducing the processor operating voltage while maintaining the operating frequencies, something that allows reducing processor consumption for a certain performance , which can even increase depending on the temperatures that are achieved.
Based on this premise, AMD presents Precision Boost Overdrive 2 , something that will reduce the operating voltage of the processor through the curve optimization tool , something that, as we see in the image, will automatically take into account the voltage at which it is running the processor, as well as its frequency, and thus reduce the voltage without compromising the stability of the system.
This tool, which will arrive with AGESA 1000 on motherboards with chipsets of the series 400 Y 500, is designed so that the system can adjust the operating voltage of the processor 1000 times per second , being a much better solution than simply placing an offset or a fixed value in BIOS.
The tool will have different aggressiveness that the user can choose, in addition to being able to properly check that the stability of the system is optimal before to continue with the new configuration, which will continue to work in the background at the firmware level.
