Synology has announced a new 8-bay NAS equipped with AMD Ryzen CPU. The Synology DS 1812 + is the latest addition in its line of NAS geared towards small businesses or even home users with specific storage needs.
The processor hidden inside is a AMD Ryzen V-series 1000 Embedded for embedded systems. Specifically, it is the same AMD Ryzen V 1621 B that we already saw in the Synology DS 1621 + of the company. A 4-core, 8-thread processor with the first generation of AMD’s Zen architecture operating at a base frequency of 2.2 GHz with 16 W of TDP. Accompany you 16 GB of DDR4 ECC memory in SO-DIMM format, supporting up to 32 Maximum GB.
The Synology DS 1812 + account with 8 SATA bays and two M.2 NVMe slots for SSD cache
The DS 1812 + offers 8 SATA 3 x 3.5 bays and 2.5 inches and also two M.2 ports 2280 with support for NVMe SSDs that can be used as acceleration cache. Also, by supporting two DX expansion units 517 can be extended up to 18 hard drives. It also offers a PCI Express x8 port with internal x4 connectivity for connecting expansion cards, such as 10 GbE.
Speaking now to external connectivity, we have four RH ports 035 with 1 GbE and support for LAG (Link Aggregation. It also offers two eSATA ports for external drives and four USB- A 3.0 (3.2 gen1). The system is cooled by two fans of 120 mm and runs the latest version of the company’s DSM (DiskStation Manager) operating system.
