An eSports arena worth 700 million euros is being built in China

Several Chinese companies are carrying out a millionaire investment focused on a new arena for esports in the metropolis of Shanghai. Lo Shanghai International New Cultural and Creative E-sports Center , this is its name, has just been inaugurated and works have started. The heart of the facility will be an eSports stadium, but complementary facilities will be attached including a hotel.
An arena for eSports from 700 million Euro
Various renderings of the new structure have been released on the network and, according to the information reported by CNBC journalists, the project covers an area of 500 thousand square meters . In addition to the spaces for the tournaments, there will be facilities for the headquarters of the teams and the hotel mentioned above. The project is estimated at a total cost of 5.8 billion Chinese yuan, or over 700 millions of Euros .
Last year the city of Shanghai hosted the League of Legends World Championships , one of the most followed titles in the eSports landscape. The event consolidated the leading position of the Chinese market for the eSports sector, which globally now has a turnover exceeding one billion dollars annually . According to estimates, more than 70% of Chinese players love eSports and it is certainly no coincidence that the company responsible for the new Shanghai complex is SuperGen , whose subsidiaries are also Edward Gaming . We are talking about a professional esports organization in China that manages several teams, including that of League of Legends.
The works should finish in 2024, when, according to the forecasts, the facility will be open to the public.
