The new rumors about the Apple Car come this time from Korea South and, according to a new report from the Korea Economic Daily, the iPhone manufacturer would have initiated the first Hyundai discussions regarding the production of the new Apple car.

According to the article Apple is facing the first negotiations with Hyundai Motor Group for the production of the car. Apple could start a collaboration relationship with the South Korean car manufacturer not only to develop the electric vehicle, but also and above all to share the “huge costs” for the technology design of the batteries and the systems necessary for the production of the units to be integrated into the vehicle.

According to previous rumors, Apple has long since begun the search for a partner to produce the Apple Car, but until now no names had been made on the possible brand. In the article, however, we read of negotiations still in the initial phase, so it is not certain that the agreement with Hyundai has already been established and finalized. Bloomberg recently said that work on the Cupertino electric car is still in the early stages and “the end of the production phase is nowhere near near.”

In the article Bloomberg also did not mention Hyundai in any way and we read that to see the Apple Car on the market it still takes 5 or 7 years . However, the Korean auto maker confirmed that it has already addressed the subject with Apple, but also that Tim Cook’s company is doing the same with several auto manufacturers around the world.

Hyundai has however specified that “the negotiations are in an embryonic stage, and nothing has been decided yet”. Following the release of the first press release, however, Hyundai removed the reference to other car manufacturers (it has Bloomberg pointed out) and a few hours later he further amended the note : “We have received requests for possible collaboration from various companies regarding the development of autonomous electric vehicles” , are the generic words of the latest revision. “No decision has been made because negotiations are only just beginning”. In short, the situation is not very clear but the evidence on Apple’s interest in producing an electric car leaves less and less room for any doubts.
