New iPhones get an overall rating of 6 / 10. The main criticism is of the rear window, which requires the whole phone to be dismantled and the body to be replaced.

Apple released the iPhone later this year after getting used to it, apparently due to delays associated with the corona pandemic. The iPhone 12 collection now includes four different models, of which the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro have now been unpacked by iFixit.

The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are carved from almost the same wood. According to iFixit, as an interesting detail, the screens work crosswise, although the typical maximum brightness of the Pro model screen is higher. When the screens are removed, the biggest difference between the phones is in the protective covers of the rear camera module. The new iPhones have been built almost as mirror images as usual, so that a larger circuit board has been fitted. Apple is praised for its SIM reader, which is modular and easy to replace, in addition to which the speaker elements are attached this time with standard Phillips screws. However, pentalobe, tri-point and standoff screws have also been used in telephones.

The similarity of the phones also applies to the battery. Both use an identical 10, 78 watt-hour battery and also cross-tested when tested by iFixit. The new batteries are clearly smaller in capacity than the last generation, but apparently the new components are at the same time the most current-efficient, as the battery life has not deteriorated, at least according to Apple’s official position. The special L-shaped batteries seen in the iPhone 11 generation have given way to the traditional rectangle.

The motherboard of the new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models continues its familiar almost identical line. The only differences between motherboards consisting of two separate circuit boards are in the serial numbers of the circuits and in the memory of the system circuit. The iPhone 12 is equipped with 4 and 12 Pro 6 GB of LPDDR4 memory. The modem for the phones is the Snapdragon X 55, known from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 platform, which is supported by an SDR 865 5G and LTE transceiver. The demolition images also show the mmWave 5G antennas found in the US model, one of which is located
