Arctic Alpine 23: Small and affordable AMD cooler
Source: Hardware Luxx added 16th Dec 2020Arctic has introduced the Alpine 23, a successor to its Alpine AM4. The new model was also developed as a pure AMD cooler for Socket AM4. The Alpine 23 is particularly compact and inexpensive. According to Arctic, the mounting system in particular has been revised. The Alpine 23 can simply be plugged onto the existing AMD Retention Module and screwed tight. Because Arctics MX-2 thermal paste is already applied in the factory, installation should be particularly quick and uncomplicated overall.
The Alpine 23 as a small top blow cooler with 90 – mm fan. This fan works at a speed of 100 – 2. 000 RPM. A revised fan motor should reduce vibrations. 50 Y-shaped cooling fins release the waste heat into the environment. The cooler measures 121 x 98, 6 x 65 mm (L x W x H) and is therefore compact. The weight is also 275, 5 g low. Arctic does not provide any information on the maximum recommended CPU power consumption.
The sale of the Alpine 23 starts immediately with a RRP of 11, 99 Euro – including in the Arctic webshop. In January 2021 another variant for continuous operation is to follow. Arctic typically understands this to be a CO model with a ball-bearing and particularly durable fan. Even for the regular Alpine 23, despite the low price, a guarantee period of six years is guaranteed.
