ARM, a company known mainly for its chip designs for smartphones, and recently acquired by NVIDIA , has unveiled a new core design designed for laptops that follow the Always On design line , something that implies that the operation of these laptops would be similar to that of a smartphone, which as a general rule are not usually turned off.
The new Cortex-A 90 C cores feature a scalable architecture of up to 8 cores Big Core, saying goodbye to the big.LITTLE architecture for this instance since this chip would arrive with better multicore performance, necessary for applications that we can use on computers.
According to n ARM, these processors with their 8MB L3 cache and other enhancements should provide higher performance for Gaming or workloads that need access to large databases, although this remains to be seen, since there are other factors to take into account.
Finally, it should be noted that ARM does not manufacture its own processors , he only designs them, so we will have to wait for a manufacturer to license this design to manufacture it, something that will allow these new cores to appear in new laptops and we can know their performance. For now, it only remains to wait for some company, that could be NVIDIA given the purchase of ARM by the same , make chips with these cores.
