ASUS announced an increase in the prices of graphics cards and motherboards. Other PC components will become more expensive at a later date
Source: Pure PC added 07th Jan 2021Last year was definitely not a good year for people planning to upgrade a computer or build a PC from scratch. There was no shortage of the premiere – Intel Comet Lake, AMD Ryzen processors 5000 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards 3000 and AMD Radeon RX 6000, the main problem, however, was poor availability and, consequently, absurdly high prices. Currently, we still see a very big problem in the case of graphics cards, which is additionally exacerbated by the renewed interest in mining cryptocurrencies. To make matters worse, ASUS has just confirmed information about price increases for its graphics cards and motherboards. Other PC components will also see price increases soon. At least for now, 2021 the year turns out to be no better than hopeless in this respect 2020 of the year.
Juan Jose Guerrero III, ASUS Technical Marketing Manager, confirmed information on price increases for graphics cards and motherboards major. Other PC components will also become more expensive at a later date.
Juan Jose Guerrero told the ASUS PC DIY Group on Facebook. The prices of graphics cards and motherboards were raised with immediate effect. The increases are argued by increasing production costs, operating costs, costs related to logistics and import tariffs. One of the biggest increases touched the non-reference Radeon RX card 6800 XT ROG Strix LC – earlier price in the Newegg store 165, 99 raised dollars to 1079, 99 dollars. In the case of GeForce RTX graphics cards 3000, there were also noticeable price increases. Top GeForce RTX 3090 ROG Strix O 24 White now costs 2109, 99 dollars. For GeForce RTX white 3080 ROG Strix, the new price is now 1049, 99 dollars.
In the case of motherboards, we do not know exactly how high the increases will be. We expect higher amounts for boards for both Intel and AMD processors. In this case, ASUS emphasizes that it is working closely with delivery and logistics partners to minimize the level of increases. The manufacturer also did not disclose whether the component increases will be introduced immediately around the world or gradually in individual markets. We can only hope that other companies will not go to ASUS. Otherwise, the PC market will become even more expensive than before.
