ASUS today unveiled a new device in the form of Chromebox with passive cooling, a device specifically designed for relatively harsh operating conditions among which we can find digital signs, points of sale, smart vending machines, warehouse stations or even production lines.
In any case, the new Chromebox from ASUS, which brings the Chromebook experience to a desktop , has 10th generation Intel Celeron or Intel Core processors , accompanied by up to 16 GB RAM memory and up to 256 Gb from to solid storage.
Its connectivity also reveals its industrial background, and although we found a port USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, WiFi 6 and support for up to 3 displays , we also find RS interface 232 via an RJ connector 50 and one external connector for a remote start button, for those occasions in which the equipment is in a place of difficult access, such as inside machinery.
Its passive cooling allows us to ensure that there will not be a fan to clean periodically, while its VESA mounting allows it to be installed in places where its presence is hardly relevant . In any case, its price or availability is not known for now, but is expected to be more expensive than normal due to its industrialized design.
