The gaming smartphones must keep pace with technological evolution and, now that Snapdragon 888 is public and available to partners, it’s time to update the current models. Xiaomi has already started to spread the first teasers of the next Black Shark branded device, and a short distance away ASUS also started talking about the next ROG Phone .

The first teaser of what it should be ROG Phone 4 was published on the official Weibo channel, and is an image that depicts a smartphone seen from its front and virtually frameless. We know that gaming smartphones have never been big benchmarks in this regard, and we doubt the image will represent a realistic version of ASUS’s next gaming phone . However, it is likely that the new device will suffer a reduction of the frames compared to the current models, perhaps approaching traditional phones.

We remind you that ROG Phone 3 was officially launched at the end of July, and is one of the most prominent devices in the gaming smartphone category with its 144 Hz OLED display and more powerful version with Snapdragon 865 +, as well as the availability of several gaming accessories that take the mobile gaming experience to another level than to other more generalist devices. We doubt that for the new model we will have to wait until next July: usually ASUS starts the “teaser” campaign a few months before the launch of a new device, and for ROG Phone 4, therefore, there will be a maximum of two to wait or three months.

These are still suppositions, since we do not yet have official information on the Taiwanese company’s next gaming smartphone other than the image appeared on Weibo that says little or nothing, apart from the anticipation – certainly welcome – of the reduction of the frames.
