Introduction
ASUS is a Taiwan-based computer hardware and electronics company founded in 1989. Unlike the regular Harpe Ace, which came with a bio-based Nylon (plastic) shell, the Harpe Ace Extreme has its top shell made out of fully CNC-machined carbon fiber, whereas the bottom and internal structure continue to be made out of Nylon. Accordingly, the Harpe Ace Extreme ends up being a decent bit lighter at 47 g, without sacrificing structural integrity by utilizing holes. Compared to other materials used for gaming mice, carbon fiber has the highest weight-to-strength ratio (i.e., tensile strength), though its shock absorption properties are worse. As far as internals go, the Harpe Ace Extreme is equipped with ASUS’s latest AimPoint Pro sensor capable of 42,000 CPI, along with ROG Optical Micro Switches rated for 100 million actuations for the main buttons. The Harpe Ace Extreme is capable of both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, and up to 70 hours of battery life are cited without illumination using 2.4 GHz wireless, and up to 98 hours using Bluetooth. By virtue of the included ROG Polling Rate Booster, the Harpe Ace Extreme is transformed into a USB high-speed device, allowing for true 8000 Hz polling in both wired and wireless operation. The feet are made of pure PTFE, and the Harpe Ace Extreme comes with a large assortment of accessories, including replacement feet, grip tape, a cleaning set, and even a display stand. Basic RGB lighting is present, which can be configured either in Armoury Crate or the stripped-down, device-specific Armoury Crate Gear. Alternatively, basic functions such as polling rate or lift-off distance may be accessed through button combinations. Though not mentioned anywhere, the Harpe Ace Extreme is also compatible with NVIDIA Reflex.
