Introduction

ASUS is a Taiwan-based computer hardware and electronics company founded in 1989. The ROG Keris is the wired counterpart to the ROG Keris Wireless (see here for our review). Aside from connectivity, there is little difference between the Keris and Keris Wireless: hot-swappable main button switches, ASUS ROG switches rated for 70 million clicks, installed by default, PBT polymer used for the main-button pieces, and high-quality pure PTFE feet. Furthermore, PixArt’s PMW3389 sensor sees use instead of the PAW3335. The braided cable is fairly similar to the charging cable of the Keris Wireless and provides excellent flexibility. Most importantly, the Keris comes out at just 63 g owing to the lack of an internal battery. Lastly, full RGB lighting is included, and the usual customization options are available within Armoury Crate.

On firmware version 1.00.06, the ROG Keris suffers from massive smoothing and an equally massive motion delay across the entire CPI range. Firmware version 1.00.09 fixes this, which is why updating to said version is strongly recommended. All assertions related to performance made in this review are based on firmware version 1.00.09.
