Source: Pure PC added 25th Nov 2020Released in March this year, a fan-made – albeit with the blessing of Gabe Newell and Valve – the Half-Life remake has got a new, significantly improved release. The creators of the refreshed version of the iconic FPS did not rest on their laurels, but worked hard on the next updates, improvements and beautification of the game, which they developed in a total of over five years. From today, we can see the effect of these works in the form of Black Mesa Definitive Edition, which introduces many changes both in the gameplay and in technical terms. Not only was it better optimization, but also the graphics and level designs were improved. The creators jokingly described the new release of the game as a kind of remaster of the original version of Half-Life’s remake.
The makers of the Half-Life remake have released for free the final update to Black Mesa, called the Definitive Edition. It introduces many changes to the design of selected maps, gameplay and visuals.
Black Mesa – premiere remake ‘ u Half-Life scheduled for March 5
Black Mesa Definitive Edition is more than a collection of bug fixes of all kinds. Crowbar Collective studio polished the entire game, and even redesigned some maps (e.g. in the On A Rail mission) so that the previous levels were qualitatively comparable to the Xen stages released much later. The visual setting has been significantly changed (including higher-quality models, cardboard and lighting). The remake did not lack critical places where optimization “limped”. Thanks to the latest update, the game is expected to work much better, especially on computers with weak and medium components. In addition, Black Mesa Definitive Edition fully supports the Steam Workshop, which will certainly please the authors of any modifications. The full list of changes can be found in the entry on Steam.

The full version of Black Mesa was released on March 5 2020 exclusively for PC (Steam). Today’s Definitive Edition game changer update is the last big one to receive the Half-Life remake. The developers announced that they intend to work on minor fixes related to the network mode or adding controller support in the main menu. Black Mesa Definitive Edition has no official Polish subtitles, but they should be added soon, if you believe the Polish author’s entry on Steam. The Definitive Edition update is available, of course, for free to all Black Mesa owners.
