British Telecom chooses Ericsson as its 5G partner for major UK cities

As we anticipated, the United Kingdom has focused heavily on Ericsson’s technology for the 5G , and now the partnership is further strengthened: the company recently announced that It will be a key partner for the implementation of next generation networks in London, Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff and other major cities in the UK, and will handle approximately half of total 5G traffic country .
Major British cities choose Ericsson for 5G RAN connectivity services
The collaboration between British Telecom and Ericsson for RAN (Radio Access Network) connectivity and 5G Core cloud native and dual-mode was launched at the beginning of 2020 and now enters a new phase, with Ericsson being partner end -to-end for the 5G of the English telecommunications giant: when the implementation is completed, Ericsson will manage about the 50% of British Telecom’s 5G traffic. Subsequently, the partnership will allow BT customers to offer new products and services that leverage 5G. As part of the agreement, Ericcson will not just manage the next generation network structure, and will modernize the existing 2G and 4G Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure of BT .
