This is not an absolute novelty (there are several on Amazon with different prices) nor a new model. Canon Japan has however thought of the Christmas present ” perfect “ with the launch of the new (second) series of cups in photographic lens shape . Obviously they could only be based on models that are truly present in the manufacturer’s catalog, so that they can be combined with a real lens (or even just to be able to imagine it).

Canon’s photographic lens-shaped cups

As mentioned, currently these are products that are on the official website of Canon Japan and therefore we will hardly see them here in Italy, but they are so cute that you can get some ideas in the case of a gift (for yourself or for someone else).

According to what reported, the models available are the RF 24 – 105 mm F4 L IS USM for the new mirrorless mount, while the EF 70 – 200 mm F2.8L IS III USM for that intended for reflex cameras. There are different packs available, from the basic one to the gift one to the more expensive one. In the latter there is also a coaster in the shape of a camera and caps to cover the lens cups.

Model size Canon RF 24 – 105 mm F4 L IS USM are equal to 9.5 x 8 cm (diameter) with a capacity of 296 mL. The cup is made of ceramic while the coaster is made of silicone and are able to withstand temperatures of respectively 120 ° C and 230 ° C. Enough for a good tea or coffee.

As for the cup Canon EF 70 – 200 mm F2.8L IS III USM , the dimensions equal to 13, 2 x 7.9 cm (diameter) with a capacity equal to the previous model, same material and same temperature resistance. Clearly change the design to reflect what the real EF is 70 – 200 mm. In this case there is not even the handle but there is a silicone ring to be able to hold the cup more simply.

For those who do not want the “large” versions , there is also a package with different format and which includes three cups in a smaller format. In this case we find the Canon EF lenses – 35 mm F2.8L III USM , EF 24 – 70 mm F2.8L II USM and EF 70 – 200 mm F2.8L IS III USM . In this case the dimensions are equal to 6.5 x 4.7 cm (diameter) and can contain 59 mL of liquid. All three do not have a handle but a ring in silicone material that allows them to be handled simply.

Regarding the prices: with the conversion from yen, the RF model has a price of 21 euro , the EF version has a price of 21 euro while the set of three smaller versions touch the 40 euro (for the whole package). The pack with two RF lens cups is priced at 56 euro while the one with an RF cup and an EF has a price of 65 EUR. These are prices in line with those on Amazon with the difference that these are original Canon .
