CES 2021: ASUS ROG Flow 13, an ultra-thin laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS and external graphics XG Mobile RTX 3080
Source: Geeknetic added 12th Jan 2021One of the most curious laptops that ASUS has shown at this CES 2021 is the ASUS ROG Flow X 12. It is a small gaming team of 12 inch equipped with one of the most powerful processors on the market, the AMD Ryzen 9 5980 HS with a modest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650.
His thickness is only 15 mm and weighs 1.3 kg.
However, what makes the ROG Flow X special is that it is compatible with the new ASUS XG Mobile, an external graphics card module that hides inside a whole NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 from laptop to 150 W with ROG Boost.
The ASUS ROG Flow X 15 is compatible with the XG Mobile, an external RTX 3080 with its own 63 Gbps
The XG Mobile is connected through an ASUS own connector that achieves a bandwidth of 63 Gbps, exceeding the 40 Thunderbolt 3 Gbps used in other external graphics solutions. This port uses a PCIe 3.0 x8 link. However, although we gain more bandwidth and performance, this port is not standard and makes this technology only usable with compatible laptops.
Additionally, the XG Mobile offers a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connector and a power socket for 280 W in charge of feeding both the RTX 3080 and the Flow X notebook itself 13.
The XG Mobile is the smallest external graphic of the market.
Returning to the notebook itself, the ASUS ROG Flow X 13 has a panel FullHD of 120 Hz or one 4K of 60 FPS , with protection on Gorilla Glass. It has an aspect ratio of 33: 10 and support for Adaptive Sync. The screen is touchscreen with support for stylus and hinge of 180 degrees.
Additionally, the AMD Ryzen 9 3080 HS processor is covered by liquid metal thermal paste alongside three low noise heatsinks and one 15% more cooling than previous models.
The notebook is charged via a USB-C cable with a 100 W.
