CES 2021: TCL surprises with a 17-inch printed OLED flip-out screen
Source: Geeknetic added 11th Jan 2021The manufacturer TCL has brought to CES 2021 its new “drop-down” screens . Under this concept there is a new technology of printed OLED panels that allow bending or rolling, so, really, we would be facing a much clearer concept of a rollable screen than what we have seen so far.
In the demonstration that the company has made, we have seen a kind of parchment that can be unfolded to form a panel of 17 inches.
TLC’s fold-out printed OLED panel prototype rolls up like a scroll from a cylinder
In The following images show the concept better, we can see the screen completely unfolded, with what seems to be some transparency, and also completely rolled up in a small cylinder, as if it were a parchment
Of all produc Rollers that have been shown at CES, at the moment this seems the most futuristic. However, the company ensures that the cost of these printable OLED panels is a 20% cheaper than other panels with conventional manufacturing technologies, and that its objective is to apply it to television systems and folding and curved devices or even within the scope of the advertising as commercial panels.
