Cinebench R23 – a new version of the program with support for Apple M1
Source: Pure PC added 11th Nov 2020The test Cinebench program prepared by Maxon should be familiar to all PurePC users. It is one of the most popular CPU benchmarks that does a good job of examining both single-threaded and multi-threaded performance in demanding scene rendering tests. Currently, the most popular versions are Cinebench R 15 and Cinebench R 20. Maxon today officially announced the launch of a new version of the program – Cinebench R 23. What is the upcoming version characterized by? First of all, it will bring support for the Apple M1 ARM chips released yesterday. So we get a program in which we can easily compare the performance of the Apple M1 to traditional Intel or AMD processors.
Maxon announced the release of a new version of Cinebench with the number R 23, the novelty of which will include Apple M1 chip support.
Apple Macbook Air, Macbook Pro 13 and Mac Mini with ARM M1
Cinebench software is based on latest Release code 23 (hence the name Cinebench R 23) using updated compilers and now has a default activated minimum runtime (previously hidden in preferences). Cinebench R 23 provides better benchmark accuracy for current and future CPU generations to test whether the machine is stable under high CPU load and whether the cooling of the desktop or notebook is sufficient for longer tasks. The aim is to verify that the user will be able to use the full potential of the processor and that his machine is capable of coping with demanding 3D tasks in everyday use.
Users will now be able to directly test the performance of a single thread without having to manually enable the “Advanced Test” option. The above option allows users to set arbitrary minimum run times to test the hardware for even longer periods of time. Maxon further declares not to compare the results from Cinebencha R 23 to the earlier version due to major modifications to the code and the compiler. The program will be compatible with Intel or AMD processors using SSE3 instructions. It will also be compatible with macOS and Apple M1 ARM systems, which were presented yesterday. Benchmark Cinebench R 23 can be downloaded directly from Maxon website.
