The Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF) is looking for project ideas and mentors to participate in Google’s Summer of Code 2021 (GSoC). Project ideas should be coding projects that university or college students can complete in about three months. In principle, everyone is free to participate in the GSoC and is not bound to the CDF.

Project ideas wanted The coding project topics include new features, plug-ins, test frameworks, infrastructure and the like. Everyone can submit a project idea, but the CDF blog post clearly shows that authors who accompany their suggestions as mentors are particularly welcome. New ideas must come before 19. February 2021 (16 UTC) – on the cut-off date for the application of the CDF Organization in the GSoC program. The team behind the CDF asks, however, to be sent before the beginning of February so that the GSoC committee and the community can adequately examine the project ideas.

Interested parties can submit their ideas via a pull request in an .adoc file Submit in the project ideas. There are already some project ideas that Google provides in a list. The announcement also contains further information on the submission and mentoring.

The programming event Summer of Code Since 2005, Google has been organizing the programming event Summer of Code (GSoC). The program brings mentor organizations looking for new contributors to their open source projects together with students who are involved in the projects as developers for three months (June to August). In the last sixteen years there have been a total of 16. 000 students participated in the GSoC.

In October 2020 Google announced changes to the framework. Due to the pandemic caused by COVID – 19, the scope of the projects and the time that students have to spend on their projects is changing. Applications for interested open source project organizations are from 29. January possible. Students can submit their applications from 29. Submit March 2021.
