Introduction

Corsair is a US-based peripherals and hardware company founded in 1994. It is now one of the leading manufacturers for gaming gear, with a portfolio spanning nearly every component you need: DRAM memory modules, flash SSDs, keyboards, mice, cases, cooling, and much more.

Today we’re reviewing the Corsair MP600 Core XT, which is the company’s newest cost-optimized value SSD targeted at situations where every dollar matters. Just like its predecessor, the MP600 Core (without “XT”), you’re getting support for PCI-Express 4.0, and QLC NAND flash in the M.2 2280 form factor. The biggest difference is that instead of the Phison E16 controller on the non-XT, the XT drive in today’s review uses the more modern Phison E21 controller, which we’ve seen on drives like the Kingston NV2. Since the E21 adds support for DRAM-less operation, Corsair decided to get rid of the DRAM-cache. This lets them save a few dollars and position the drive more aggressively price-wise.

The Corsair MP600 Core XT is available in capacities of 1 TB ($60), 2 TB ($115) and 4 TB ($285). Endurance for these models is set to 250 TBW, 450 TBW and 900 TBW, respectively. Corsair includes a five-year warranty with the MP600 Core XT.
