Introduction

Custom Art/PMG Audio, Lime Ears, and now Craft Ears. Is there something in the Polish waters that is conducive to making in-ear monitors? Perhaps Jedrek might be able to answer this, having started Craft Ears ~7 years ago and grown it to a small yet productive team of five members as of the date I write this review. This team includes musicians, audiologists, artists, and electrical engineers alike, and Jedrek—Jed to those who know him—aims to make customers feel like they are part of this family too. Craft Ears currently has five IEMs actively made and sold, four of which are also available in custom fit versions. Today we examine the latest, and arguably greatest, from Craft Ears in the form of the Omnium tribrid universal fit IEMs.

The Omnium is Craft Ear’s flagship product, and comes available in a standard universal fit (UIEM) version that I have here. The brand also offered me a custom version, although I declined knowing it would take time and the UIEM version is more popular. Unlike most brands that offer CIEMs, you can also choose to get the Omnium in universal fit but a custom design, with pricing starting at the same value as the UIEM version. Take the two seen in the cover photo above, for example, which are an example of the Omnium in the red and blue galaxy designs for the faceplates and shells alike with gold and silver logos. I wanted to highlight this right away as the Omnium is made to order, with the default version usually having some units in stock, and this means you can customize the Omnium to your liking, making it a more special set than usual. I will also mention that the Omnium is a result of Craft Ears working with HIFIMAN, including having borrowed some headphones including the HIFIMAN Arya, to understand how to get that special planar magnetic mids reproduction in IEMs too. This is how I first got to know about Craft Ears and the Omnium, and we’ll see whether it meets these high expectations in our review, which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
