Chinese overclocker baby-j got a new record of the world regarding the frequency of RAM memories, touching the 7004 MHz with solutions Crucial Ballistix Max and, of course, cooling to liquid nitrogen . The result was obtained with a module from 16 GB to single-sided intended for basic operation at 4000 MHz, on a motherboard MSI MEG B 550 Unify-X with a Ryzen 5 Pro processor 4650 G (Zen 2, Renoir, not for retail ).
With a frequency increase of 75%, BABY-J is became the first overclocker to bring DDR4 memory beyond 7 GHz , as certified on HWBot and CPU-Z Validator. The previous best result was 6666 MHz, always achieved with Crucial Ballistix Max, slightly higher than a similar result obtained with Trident Z Royal by G.Skill.
In September, Micron’s consumer division announced the Max 5100, solutions characterized by a frequency of 5100 MHz (die Micron-E), timing CL 19 – 26 – 26 – 48 and an operating voltage of 1.5V. A similar frequency, not even very long ago, seemed “utopia” with air cooling, but today it is no longer the case and this is also due to the continuous research and development, as well as the overclockers that push companies to constantly innovate.
