Element has introduced a new bridging service for Slack for its Matrix Services (EMS). It is a connection between the collaboration platform and the decentralized messenger matrix, which Element manages completely for the customer.

The new offer is based on the free matrix-appservice-slack, which companies can also set up themselves. With the software, users can also contact users of other messengers – including Elements’ own service, but also third-party providers such as Signal, Telegram and Discord or the classic IRC or their own e-mail server via an additional bridge.

Alternative to Slack’s own Connect The license includes the bridge for a workspace itself and up to 20 connected rooms, without a limitation of the messages sent. Slack itself also offers a function called Connect, with which external users can be added. However, this requires that they also use a Slack client for this and the administrator confirms the respective invitation.

Element emphasizes in its announcement of the new bridge that this effort is no longer required for the administrator, users who They could use their preferred communication application and companies would not have to lock their data in silos. The costs depend on the number of bridges required and the users, Element also offers a test access for EMS limited to 30 days.
