The computer company Dell is doing well in the corona crisis thanks to a high demand better than expected on PCs, notebooks and tablets. “We have encountered an unprecedented demand for applications for home work,” announced Dell CEO Jeff Clarke on Tuesday after the US market closed when presenting the figures for the third quarter. Operating profit rose a strong percent year-over-year to $ 1.1 billion.
Above all, the PC division recorded significant increases – here the revenues in the private customer business decreased 14 percent and sales to business customers by 5 percent. However, it was much worse for servers and network devices. Overall, Dell managed a three percent increase in sales 23, $ 5 billion during the coronavirus crisis. This exceeded the forecasts, which initially caused the share to rise after the trading hours. Since the beginning of the year, the price has increased by 37 percent.
