Deutsche Post DHL delivered 367 millions more parcels than expected in the third quarter. The company was able to compensate for weaknesses in the advertising business by increasing transports by , as shown by the recent drop in the box office. At the beginning 2020 the company was assuming a parcel growth of 5 percent.

Sales in the “Post & Parcel Germany” division increased by 3.4 percent to 3.8 billion euros in the period from July to September compared to the same period in the previous year, the operating result rose from 304 million to 320 million euros. Without a corona bonus of 300 euros per employee and a collectively agreed one-time payment, it would have been even higher.

New app on the march? According to Swiss Post, the growth in the parcel sector was able to decrease volumes in the mail sector – especially from Asia and the other European countries – balance. In the past three months, Swiss Post transported 1 16 billion letters within Germany, 5.6 percent fewer than a year ago. The dispatch of advertising messages decreased by 12, 5 percent to 1, 96 Billion pieces back.

The Group’s total sales rose in the third quarter by 4.4 percent to 16, 2 billion euros. Since things went very well in areas such as the express business and were operated much more profitably there, the net profit even increased by around half to 851 million euros.

In the spring it became known that the Post wanted to facilitate the sending and receiving of letters and parcels with a digitization offensive. In this context, a new mobile app for sending and receiving letters and parcels could be released by the end of this year, which may clear up the existing mess of the various DHL / Post apps.
