Deutsche Telekom AG (DTAG) wants to part with its Dutch subsidiary T-Mobile Netherlands BV. The immediate competitors are out of the question as buyers for reasons of competition law. Therefore, Telekom negotiates with several financial investors.
This is reported by the Dutch Financieele Dagblad . Deutsche Telekom AG itself does not comment on this. The group tried in vain about five years ago to find a buyer willing to pay. In the meantime, T-Mobile has invested in a fiber optic network for broadband internet access in the Netherlands. DTAG thus has more to offer potential buyers today than it did five years ago.
In addition, Deutsche Telekom has merged with Tele2 in the Netherlands. At the end of 2018 the EU has approved the merger of T-Mobile NL and Tele2. Since then, the Swedish Tele2 group has held a quarter of the shares in T-Mobile NL. At the same time, Tele2 also sold the Austrian subsidiary at the time, but not to T-Mobile Austria but to the Chinese network operator Hutchison Drei Austria.
