The collaboration between Vodafone and the media group Discovery is intended to bring the Discovery + streaming service to Germany. The companies announced the cooperation in a press release. Accordingly, Vodafone customers should be able to subscribe to the streaming service. Customers are users who already use Vodafone’s mobile or TV services.

In addition to Germany, other European Markets are covered including the UK, Turkey, Greece and the Czech Republic. According to the press release, Discovery + could reach up to 100 million users in Europe.

Discovery + already started in the USA Discovery + has been officially available in the USA since January 4th. It could take some time before users in Germany can see the content of the streaming service: According to the press release, the launch of Discovery + in Europe will be staggered 2021 and 2022 occur. Vodafone and Discovery have not yet given any more precise dates. It is also unclear how much Discovery + will cost in Germany.

In the USA, the streaming service costs 5 US dollars per month. However, this price applies to the offer with advertisements. If you want to see Discovery + ad-free in the US, you have to transfer US $ 7 a month to Discovery.

The Discovery + portfolio includes “Natural History” from the BBC and the sports offer from Eurosport. In the USA, Discovery + also includes numerous reality TV formats, documentations and in-house productions for the streaming service. In Germany, the Discovery Channel is available through a Sky subscription. In addition, the US media group is already working with ProSiebenSat.1 to provide content for the Joyn streaming service.
