According to the latest trendforce report, the memory industry DRAM and NAND Flash is in a state of oversupply that will continue throughout the fourth quarter of the year, causing the prices of these components ( and also of the devices that comprise them) suffer price decreases.
Specifically, some price decreases that will be around 10 – 20% during the last three months of this year 2020. With an expected decrease of 10% for DRAM modules of the mainstream market, and up to 20% in the price of NAND Flash memory chip wafers, which will mean between a 15 and 15% less price on SSDs, both on SATA drives as on NVMe drives, plus integrated chips.
In 2021 will continue the decline in prices in NAND Flash , but in DRAM the fall will be contained
This situation of price decrease seems to begin to be contained at the beginning of 2021, at which time an increase in demand for RAM memory chips is expected, at least during the first quarter of the year, which will cause prices to drop. to slow down to the current rate.
On the other hand, increased prove ers of NAND memory and a supply that is expected to remain high, will cause the decrease in prices of SSDs and storage units with this technology to maintain their price decrease or even increase it.
