Electric cars: Share of new registrations increased from three to ten percent
Source: Heise.de added 05th Nov 2020Electric cars are on the advance in the European Union: Knapp 274. 000 Passenger car and thus every tenth passenger vehicle sold in the third quarter was an electric car, as the industry association Acea announced on Thursday. In the same period of the previous year, the share was still three percent.
A consequence of the funding The measures of the EU states to induce citizens to buy cars during the Covid – 19 – epidemic would have made the purchase of electric cars stronger promoted than those of conventionally powered vehicles, the association announced.
Hybrid cars did well with 341. 000 cars sold 12, 4 percent of the EU car market. 2.3 percent of sales are powered by alternative fuels such as ethanol.
The majority of sales continued with cars powered by fossil fuels such as gasoline (just under 48 percent) and diesel fuel (just under 28 percent). For the two conventional technologies, however, sales fell sharply: Sales of cars with gasoline engines fell by 24 percent to 1.3 million, the sales figures for Diesel car up 13, 7 percent to good 766. 000 pieces.
