Epic Games Store Announces Next Free Game

After the Epic Games Store has already released various games such as the cooking simulation Overcooked, the puzzle game Fez or World of Goo for free in The MudRunner off-road simulation is currently in the list of free publications. However, the Epic Games Store has already announced the next free titles in its own store. From December 3rd 2020 the indie game Cave Story + can be downloaded free of charge from the games store. As always, an account in the Epic Games Store or the shop software must be installed.

In the year 2004 the Japanese Daisuke Amaya published the free title Cave Story, which is an indie platformer that was developed by Amaya entirely on its own. The game developer needed a full five years for this. Shortly after it was released, the 2D action adventure became a fan favorite and met with a lot of enthusiasm among gamers. In the year 2010 Cave Story was also implemented for WiiWare and DSiWare as well as for an updated PC version called Cave Story +.

The adventure provides around six to eight hours of fun and is not only suitable for retrogamers. So you should definitely strike next Thursday and secure the free title. Whether Epic is good for a surprise again and will conjure up an AAA hit in addition to the indie title remains to be seen. It wouldn’t be the first time that two games have been released at once despite advance notice.

The Epic Game Store has already surprised in the past with six Batman games or the free release of GTA V. Recently, however, the free games in the Epic Store have become quieter. It is not known whether Tim Sweeney will slowly end the promo phase.
