EVGA has introduced a new BIOS for the GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming. With this the power limit of 380 W (standard BIOS), or 400 W (OC-BIOS) increased to 450 W (OC-BIOS). With the standard BIOS it remains at 380 W, in the OC-BIOS this means an increase of 12, 5%.

EVGA apparently reacts to requests from some users to increase the power limit further.

“Due to many users request, have a new BETA BIOS that increases the maximum Power Target. This BIOS is only intended for the extreme overclocking user and does not have any other changes.

• This update will increase the power consumption while overclocking, and is recommended you have adequate cooling and power (850 w + Gold minimum) when using this.
• EVGA does not guarantee any performance increase or overclock while using this BIOS update. “

According to EVGA, the new OC-BIOS is especially suitable for overclockers who previous 400 W are not sufficient. The BIOS update takes place via an executable updater, which automatically executes the flash process after confirmation.

Flashing the BIOS versions with the BIOS of other cards is one way of increasing the power limit if the manufacturer does not offer a BIOS with a higher power limit. A corresponding NVFlash version is now available from
