EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra with Power Limit at 450W
Source: Pure PC added 16th Oct 2020Although the debut of GeForce RTX graphics cards 3080 was officially 17 of September, due to their low availability, most users are still waiting impatiently for their copy. It is hard to call the premiere of GeForce RTX 3080 successful. Although the card brought a significant increase in performance compared to the Turing generation, it was also disappointing in terms of power consumption. After the debut, there were also disturbing reports about capacitors that were replaced by manufacturers and problems with system stability, which in most cases were eliminated by Nvidia drivers. However, this does not prevent the power limits of selected models from being increased. One example is the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, which has a new BIOS to raise the Power Limit.
EVGA has released a new BIOS (Beta) for the EVGA GeForce RTX graphics card 3080 FTW3 Ultra which raises the power limit from 400 In on 450 In. It is the second, after ASUS ROG Strix OC, GeForce RTX 3080 model that offers maximum TDP at such a high level.
EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 KINGPIN with record GPU clock speed
EVGA GeForce RTX graphics card 3080 The FTW3 Ultra, which uses a three-fan cooling system and requires three 8-pin power plugs to connect, has a new BIOS (in beta). This is the company’s response to many requests from users who wanted a higher power cap to improve overclockability. Most proprietary GeForce RTX cards 3080 have a TDP of 320-340IN. In the case of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra model, it was mentioned 380-400IN. Thanks to the new BIOS, the maximum TDP has increased to 450 W. Thus, this card joins the ASUS RTX 3080 ROG Strix OC, which are the only ones in this series that can boast a Power Limit of 450IN.
ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 ROG Strix OC with the biggest Boost clock
BIOS 94. 02. . 48. 88 is available in two versions: Normal and OC . More details, including installation instructions and downloads, can be found on the official forum. EVGA recommends a minimum power supply 850 W (Gold). Uploading a new BIOS will adequately increase the power consumption, but it does not guarantee better performance (the clock speed is also influenced by other factors, including temperature and voltage or the chip itself). The Boost clock was fixed in EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra to 1800 MHz, but thanks to the update you should be able to catch up with the ASUS RTX card 3080 ROG Strix OC with Boost 1935 MHz.
