While there are some methods by web page creators to accommodate visually impaired users, do not always count with an overly effective implementation , something that can lead to these users not being able to really enjoy their time online. As of today, we have alternate text functionality that text narrators can use to describe images, and Facebook will use artificial intelligence to create these descriptions.
This functionality, which exists on Facebook since 2016, will begin to use AI in its new generation to be able to describe images more precisely , although as it is a fully automated system where cannot be guaranteed an accuracy of 100%, all descriptions will keep the “could be” at the beginning of the description.
According to the information provided by the company, artificial intelligence has been fed with thousands of millions of photos originating from Instagram, of so that the resulting artificial intelligence model is capable of even recognize weddings in different parts of the world based, in part, on elements such as clothing or decoration of the place.
Not for now it is known on what exact date the system will be updated or if it is already working, but users who have been using it for some time can probably recognize the change.
